NAMAYANI Namayani, age 5, and her older brother Lomnyak are two wonderful additions to the TFFT Scholarship Program. They began school in September 2007 at Fikiria Kwanza Academy in Usa River, Tanzania. They lost their mother in 2005 when she died giving birth to her twins. Since then, Namayani has been living with her father’s brother, Zephanius Lendimi. The Lendimi’s are from Monduli and are a part of the Maasai tribe. Until now, Zephanius is the only person from the family who has received an education. The whole family is thrilled about the children’s acceptance to our program.Namayani speaks both Kimaasai and Kiswahili, and should be able to soak up English at a quick pace this year in Fikiria Kwanza’s pre-primary class. She likes to play with her brother, and with her uncle’s direction, should be able to put that same energy towards her school work. She is a little nervous about being away from home, but is happy to have Lomnyak by her side. To learn more about how you can effect positive change, please visit our TAKE ACTION page!
