| Emily Cottingham Emily Cottingham joins The Foundation For Tomorrow, as our Development Officer. In conjunction with Merrill Lynch's Philanthropic Group, Emily will spearhead the building of TFFT's endowment fund. She will also be responsible for achieving annual financial targets to maximize the opportunities provided by the foundation's programs to as many children as possible. Emily is currently based in Tanzania where she is working on development projects within East Africa and running RIDETZ, TFFT’s 400-mile adventure ride from Mount Kilimanjaro to the Indian Ocean. After receiving a BA in Communications from Lake Forest College in 2004, Emily headed to Kenya and Tanzania to volunteer with a local non-profit. While helping to run a school for orphaned and AIDS-stricken children there, Emily saw the need for consistency, compassion and most importantly education in the children’s lives. It was from here that her love for Africa, and her dedication toward working to create a quality education for Tanzanian children began. Emily has since returned to Tanzania and is excited to call this beautiful country home. Since 2004, Emily has being involved with the International Rescue Committee, The International Humanity Foundation, and Kentucky Refugee Ministries as well as teaching ESL classes to refugees. Emily comes to TFFT with previous experience in event planning and production, after working with the prestigious Bruce Southworth Productions, Inc. in Illinois. Emily also has substantial knowledge of finance, after working with Linsco Private Ledger in San Diego, California. Her communication skills and knowledge continue to be a significant asset in building The Foundation for Tomorrow. Emily grew up in Louisville, Kentucky and is an adventurer at heart. She began traveling with her family when she was nine years old, and has been hooked ever since, making it to 6 of the 7 continents. Emily is also an accomplished equestrian. |
