Adam Rubin
Adam Rubin has joined the team at The Foundation for Tomorrow as the Program Director for our Full Circle After School Program. In addition to running the After School Program, he will also be updating the Full Circle Program curriculum to enhance its sustainability. Rubin hopes to establish a strong peer education club at Usa River Academy, in which the older TFFT students will teach their younger peers about life skills and HIV/AIDS and empower each other to initiate community development projects. This peer education system will begin at our partner orphanages, where Rubin will be working to plan and implement community service projects alongside TFFT Usa River Academy secondary students.
Rubin was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois but completed his secondary education in Sedona, Arizona after moving there with his family in 1999. Adam first came to Tanzania in the summer of 2009 as a volunteer for Support for International Change, a partner organization of TFFT which provides HIV/AIDS education in underserved rural communities throughout northern Tanzania. It was during this program that Rubin understood his desire and capacity to work with vulnerable youth in Tanzania, after initiating an education outreach program with a group of street children in the area he was volunteering. Rubin returned as a Program Coordinator the following year for SIC’s Fall Volunteer Program, lasting from September until December. Seeking to broaden his non-profit experience and inspired to utilize the skill set obtained from his time with SIC to implement sustainable education with disadvantaged Tanzanian children; TFFT was exactly the organization Rubin was looking for.
Rubin attended the University of Arizona where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and Honors with a degree in Political Science. While his degree allowed for an understanding of policy implementation and international relations, his academic focus throughout his undergraduate education focused on development in Africa. Rubin plans to obtain a Masters in Global Development with a focus on Social Entrepreneurship, with hopes of achieving his goal to become Executive Director of his own NGO in Tanzania.
